On October 21, Berlin Braves Baseball hosted the city's very first Home Run Derby, together with our good friends from Baseball School Berlin

Accompanied by an All Star Futures Game showcasing the skills of the baseball youth and a season-ending party, we had a blast coming together with the community on our Field of Dreams in Columbiapark.

First off was the All Star Futures Game, where 20 young players divided into two teams went head-to-head.

The exciting game ended with team red winning 9:5 against its opponents.

After a quick break, it was about time for the Home Run Derby. Julius Mannel (Berlin Braves), Marcos Balanque (Berlin Flamingos), Yan St. Pierre (Berlin Braves), Johannes Basche (Mahlow Eagles), Steven Seegert (Berlin Dragons), Orlando Del Muro (Mannheim Tornados), Curt Freyhofer (Potsdam Porcupines), Bernhard Schwarwächter (Berlin Wizards), Heiko Neumeister (Berlin Roadrunners), Parsa Bergengrün (Berlin Sluggers) and Niklas Wägner (Berlin Flamingos) subsequently took to the field to hit some of the longest and hardest balls Tempelhofer feld has ever seen.

Each player was given 5 minutes and their favourite walk off song to show their best muscle and make as many balls as possible pass the fence.

In the finale our very own MVP Julius Mannel could secure the win against “swingman” Mannheim's Orlando Del Muro, scoring a phenomenal 8 home runs within 2 minutes.

This was the perfect start for our season ending party, for which our South African friends from Amandla Foods showed off their famous Peri Peri Burgers and DJ Crazy Cuts brought some old school scratching game to get everybody dancing.

Thank you and big up to everybody who came out to celebrate in the name of baseball – it has been a pleasure!
